Hi. My name is Terry. I work in the data industry as a SQL developer/data analyst. I watched over the last decade how the tech industry has evolved and how big the demand for people working in data analytics has grown. I made the transition myself and now love to help others get on the path and make the move.
I’ve been in the technology field for several years before switching to
the world of data analysis and have worked in data and analysis for the
last five years.
After working in the demanding I.T. industry, where I was on call 24/7 and had to leave home or events with my family to get a server, firewall, or phone system back online, I decided to move over to data analytics for a couple reasons.
First, there are far fewer data emergencies than server and network emergencies that force me to work outside of my normal business hours.
Second, the field of data analytics is growing like crazy with only a bigger future every day. Talk about jobs that are in demand!
I didn’t have the time to quit my job and go back to school. I also had a family to feed, so continuing to work was a must.
YOU MAY BE IN THE SAME BOAT
I know there are people out there that are also looking to get into data analytics and don’t know how to get started.
Well, here’s how I did it.
I looked at YouTube and found any videos I could and plowed my way through. There are some pretty good instructional videos out there. (There are also some really bad ones.)
I wanted to learn i a bad way. So I took the time that could have been used watching TV, playing video games, sleeping in, or anything else that wasn’t enriching my life.
Learning databases was my passion.
NOW I’M HELPING OTHERS SEE THE POSSIBILITIES
I am still learning. Even though I’ve been working with data for five years now, I still fill my brain every chance I get. Everyone I know in the industry knows how much it is growing and how big the opportunity is.
What I want to do here is help others figure out how to get started and continue to move their career forward.
If you ever need a hand or have ay questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
